The wines of Brandlin reflect the classic Mount Veeder terroir — rich fruit and great tannin structure. Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are tended in distinct blocks, imparting profound character and complexity. At harvest, grapes are hand-picked, hand-sorted, de-stemmed and gravity fed into small fermentation vats. Traditional winemaking methods include cold soaking, extended maceration on the skins, aerative pumpovers and nearly two years of aging in French oak barrels. Brandlin’s commitment to viticulture and winemaking in a state-of-the-art winery results in wines that are outstanding from vintage to vintage.

Bottle shot of Brandlin Malbec

2013 Estate Malbec

Our Brandlin vineyard is home to a few acres of Malbec, an essential component of our Henry’s Keep Proprietary Red Wine, much prized for its lovely aromatics and plush tannins. In 2013 we held a few barrels aside to bottle on its own and share what a gorgeous wine Mountain Grown Malbec can be as the lead variety. It starts with the heady floral notes, violets and lavender, with bright, brambly fruit on the nose. The flavors round out with rich dark fruit and a light, loamy, earthy tone that lingers on the lush finish. Neither Bordeaux nor Argentinian, enjoy a Mount Veeder Malbec as only we can grow it.
